Ga-ga-ga-ganarly Storm

Check out this storm that passed over our house last night. It was ga-ga-ga-gnarly to the max. (Thanks to Hilary Walker for the photo).

Beat it Haole!

At camp we watch the awesomely bad 80's movie "North Shore" every week where a wave-pool surfer from Arkansas, Rick Kane, ventures to Hawaii to eventually compete in the Pipe Masters. We love it and make fun of it all at the same time. Ila has already picked up on this:

Our Little Surfer Girl

Our little surfer girl is already practicing her pop-up! Watch how she practices paddling and then popping up with her buddy Ace. All day she has been asking "Ace" or "Kitty" (Kristen) to "Paddle! Paddle!" with her on the floor. Ross even showed Ila's pop-up in slow-mo for the kids before watching their surfing footage today to demonstrate how to go directly to your feet and not your knees. (In this clip, she prefers the paddling to the popping up, but still, I think she's going to be a surfer in no time). I'll try to post a better clip of her pop-up later on - it's pretty good.

Oh and just a funny side note of what she calls the staff:
"Ace" - Anne Carney
"Hirir" - Hilary
"Kitty" - Kristen
"Bado" - Baino
"Taco" - Travis
"Good guy" - Coleman
"Michael" - Michael John
She's still not too sure of Lex, but he will win her over eventually.

64 years and 3 for sydney!

Today is my grandparent's 64th wedding anniversary! Oh how we love and admire them.

It's also Sydney's 3rd birthday which means, in human years, she can now go grab a brewsky with the local muts around town. We extended her curfew this evening.

A Little Photo Sesh

This morning I took Ila to the beach to explore and take some pics while everyone else went to Jockeys Ridge to go sandboarding. She's getting much more comfortable walking around in the sand and getting sandy. The promise of getting to wash off in the hose when we get home is always the most exciting part for her though.
