Ila talks about surfing a lot and reminds us constantly "i do dat one day." (She also says that about everything sees including construction workers on the side of the road to baby frogs in an aquarium). But the girl does have a solid paddle/ pop-up which she's been practicing since last summer. But for now, here she is on the sidelines cheering on her daddy and the campers during the winter session. . .

Potty Trained!
With the help of a talking, singing "Potty Fox" puppet, lots of books, M&M's, a few accidents, and a whole lot of patience, this girl is a potty rockstar! We stayed in for a couple days before we started venturing out on little outings, but by day 4 or 5 we were off to Target and Chick fil A where she peed in both public restrooms. We are onto our second potty chart now and she continues to talk to the horse stickers asking them if they are ready for more food. If I want her to try going potty sometimes it works to say "time to go feed the horsies!" I am so proud of this little one! For those of you moms out there thinking of starting potty training, I think the biggest success factor is waiting til' your child is ready. She had already been waking up with dry diapers in the morning when we started. Go Ila!
Trying on ALL her new underwear at once!

The Dog Days Are Over
Lately Ila and I have been jamming out to some Florence and the Machine in the car. Here is a preview of what happens most every day (since Ross was driving this time).

Sarah Cramer Photos
We've had our friend Sarah (Cramer Photo) take photos of our fam twice now and I can't get over how amazing she is at capturing Ila's expressions and sweet nature. Here are some favorites that I haven't really posted because we were having some prints made for the grandparents for Christmas. We also got a few made for our house!
Ross thinks I went a little overboard in our house but after staring at bare walls for a year, I'm pretty excited about them! Thanks Sarah!
These few are from last January 2010

Ila's Song
Ila has been extremely vocal lately, and that includes her stream of consciousness songs about "seahorses and horses going up up and mommy said don't cry." Here is one I caught the tail end of. Do you think she has a future in songwriting? (You have to let the page load for a minute before pressing play).
I finally uploaded all the movies from my phone, so expect more soon!

And Everyone Said We Were Crazy... (and I agree)
This year, or last year now that it's 2011, we hosted our first winter camp session for our advanced and hardcore surfers. A couple of them didn't make it because of the massive snowstorm, but those who did enjoyed some epic winter surf. Disclaimer: I didn't take all these photos, but I did make the movie at the end...
My Husband Is Funny
Check out Ross' newly released surf humor site: http://www.simplesurfer.com/. If you at all consider yourself a surfer, wish you were a surfer, or know surfers, you just might pee yourself.

1st Haircut
Ila's hair has been taking it's sweet time to grow, and even though there are still a lot of even shorter pieces, it was starting to look a little too mullet-like. I think it turned out pretty nice! It's amazing how much older she looks.
